February 2014 - Community Development Workshop

YWAM Canada, Global Youth Network and The North American Institute for Indigenous Theological Studies are hosting a certificate workshop on community development March 15-22, 2014. Our host for the workshop will be YWAM Global Gateway in Oliver, BC.

Community Development Workshop 2014

At this certificate workshop, you, your ministry, your community and YWAM base or Operating location will focus on creating new ideas and understandings that are rooted in the “best of the past.” The workshop’s goal is to expand the potential for creative development and change, to help people envision a collectively desired future and provide the means to achieve that collective vision. This will be achieved in ways that translate people’s images of possibility into reality, their belief about what can be, into practice.

You will discover the art of valuing those factors that have given life to a community in the past and those which are bringing life to it in the present.

In its most practical construction, this certificate workshop is a form of community inquiry that seeks to discover, highlight and illuminate the life-giving forces of the community – past and present. If you are a Base or Operating Location leader, a part of a leadership team, a ministry leader or wanting to start something new in YWAM, then this workshop is something you will want to consider.

Terry LeBlancTerry LeBlanc will be facilitating the workshop.

Terry is Mi’kmaq/Acadian, is in his 41st year of marriage to Bev and the father of twin daughters and a son. He is the Director of My People International (MPI) as well as Founding Chair and current Director of the North American Institute for Indigenous Theological Studies (NAIITS). In addition to grassroots ministry in the Native North American context for the past 34 years, Terry has taught as a sessional and guest lecturer at various colleges, seminaries and universities. In addition to his work with MPI and NAIITS, he serves as an adjunct faculty member at Tyndale University College and Seminary, George Fox University and Evangelical Seminary and Asbury Theological Seminary.
Author of numerous articles, theological papers and several book chapters, Terry has won several awards for his varied writings. In June 2010, for his work on the creation of NAIITS, Terry became the 28th recipient of the Dr. E.H. Johnson Memorial Award for Innovation in Mission.

The cost for room board and the 8 days of training will be $350 Canadian.
