May 2014 - DTS Training Week - Vancouver, BC

The fourth annual DTS Training Week was held in Vancouver, March 17-21, 2014.

There were staff from three YWAM locations in BC and Alberta. Between the 16 of us there were over 93 years of YWAM experience.

Here are some highlights from the week:

Day One: We reflected on how DTS shaped each of us and influenced the people we have become. We were in awe of what God did through our DTSs and how he overcame many obstacles to reach us.

Day Two: We used the DiSC test to help us understand our personalities, motivations, and strengths. Knowing how people think and see the world can increase our appreciation of others and allow us to work together more effectively.

Day Three: Over a fancy breakfast we talked about various expressions of hospitality. Making time for others, sharing what we have, and opening our homes to one another is a way to display the kingdom.

Day Four: Randy Parizeau talked about how to create ownership and buy-in from those we lead. Understanding God’s invitation to be his friends and heirs can change the way we carry out his mission.

Day Five: We did a survey of the foundational values of YWAM to learn which ones we are strong in and which ones we need to strengthen. We closed with a time of commissioning each team to “make disciples of all nations” and “to bear fruit that will remain.”

Until next time,
